"River Walk" Starting at Borrowdale Hotel, Cumbria, UK
Visited July 19, 2023
Started at the road by the Borrowdale Hotel. Returned to Keswick via bus; waited with a few other people who were gathering at the bus stop sign by the Lodore Hotel. (Important to wait at the bus stop sign ACROSS the road from the hotel. Either bus will eventually get to Keswick, but the one I used was a shorter bus ride.)
10 degrees Celsius forecasted (50 degrees Fahrenheit), mix of sun and clouds; 10:30 AM-10:46 AM
I did not see any public toilets
Keswick is very dog friendly.
This was a very short walk from Borrowdale Hotel. I forgot to note the mileage because I was focused on the water accumulation that had occurred over the recent days of rain.
The trail was very nice and the sunshine was welcome. There were many other people out enjoying the sunshine and making the same decisions as I was about whether they wanted wet feet or not. I knew I was taking the bus back and then changing for a visit to the pencil museum so I was not bothered about getting wet feet. My hiking shoes were supposed to be waterproof but they were not as tall as the water was deep.
Parking: I did not see any public parking lots. I walked and used the bus. The bus schedule is available in the entryway at the Booths Grocery Store in Keswick.
I did not see any trash.
The temperature was low enough that I did not have trouble with mosquitos or midges.
I would not recommend this trail for strollers if there has been rain. Maybe it would be fine during dry weather as long as the stroller had big "off road" tires.
I saw sheep, a variety of wildflowers, berry briars, ferns, mosses, lichens, ivy, and trees.

Just a few minutes' walk from the boat launch and the cottage where I was staying for the week. They offer rooms and based on the dining service, I would be interested in checking out their rooms if I ever visit Keswick again.
I ate dinner here more than once during the week. The food and beverages were excellent. The service was friendly and spot on. The place is very dog friendly. I did not have a dog with me, but I witnessed many dogs visiting during the week. I stopped in early in the day to make dinner reservations or made them a day ahead. This is strongly recommended during the high tourist season.
