Creation Trail, Marilla, NY

August 2024

Address: I used Google Maps to: Creation Walk Nature Trail, 1400 Two Rod Road, Marilla, NY 14102

Parking: Gravel Parking, Room for 10+ vehicles

70+ degrees at 11:00 AM - 12:00PM, sunny with a light breeze

Portable toilet

Parking and entrance to the trail is free.

Dogs on leads were allowed but Wesley stayed home because I had plans to eat out for a late lunch.

Garmin Stats: 1.23 mi.; 58.46 minutes of leisurely walking including stops to take pictures, enjoy the benches, and listen to the water at the small waterfall; 154 feet of total ascent  (Mostly at one small section of trail where I might have said, "There better be one of those benches at the top."  And, happily, there was!)

We walked this path in a clockwise direction, and we enjoyed the sounds of nature despite the loud, nearby lawnmower.  There were many benches to rest and enjoy this lovely space.

This trail is also part of the 2024 WNY Hiking Challenge and I relied on the Avenza map for this trail that is provided with the challenge.

The path is covered with wood chips.  The trail was wide enough to walk side by side for the wooded section of the trail but single file when the trail comes out to the pasture's edge.

We had the trails to ourselves.  This was a lovely place for a friendly chat and a change to stretch our legs while admiring some gorgeous trees.

The park has many wooded and shaded areas but includes a large open space near the parking area.

I did not note any trash on the trails.

Mosquitos buzzed around but mostly respected our bug spray.

The trail is well maintained so shorts were not a problem today.

There was poison ivy growing up trees on the edge of the trail but I did not hug any trees today so I was fine.

I saw a big toad, little orange butterflies, Queen Anne's lace, red clover, and many tree species including red cedar, huge oaks (willow oak, northern red oak) and sugar maples.

Big, beautiful facility with outdoor tables, too.  Friendly and efficient waiter.  Nice selection of their product and I enjoyed their chicken souvlaki salad very much.  The first time, I went to support Roswell Park's Beers for Gears fundraiser.  Today was not as packed and the overall vibe is very pleasant.

This is the trail head.

This is just a gravel drive and more parking for the soccer fields.  The trail is to the left.

Right by the trail start.

Starting here takes you on the loop in a clockwise direction.

Many of the trees are tagged with labels.

There are a number of bible quotes along the trail.

There are a number of well-placed bences along the path.

Gorgeous giant oaks and maples on the trail
