Allen Park, Jamestown, NY
Visited August 14, 2023
Address: I used Google Maps to get to Allen Park, Hughes Street, Jamestown, NY. I parked near the playground and public toilets that I saw on the right before I arrived at the mark designated by Google Maps.
Parking: Room for 40+ cars, 2 gravel parking lots
72-75 degrees at 1:15 PM, sunny with a mix of clouds, we left at 3:00 PM before the rain began to fall, but much of our time was spent enjoying the picnic tables
Public restroom facilities available
The trail is free.
Leashed pets are welcome but Wesley stayed home today. I saw a dog happily picking up sticks while playing with his person.
The trail has a natural surface interrupted by occasional bridges and stonework walkways. There were spur trails that appeared to lead up to the road toward the band area that I saw from the car as I left (so no photo from me).
We walked less than a mile according to my phone's walking app. There was a slight incline.
A stroller with larger all-terrain wheels would probably navigate this trail without too much difficulty.
We had the trail and picnic tables to ourselves. There were people approaching the trail as we left it and there were people at the playground.
Today's walk was shorter than I expected but it was very enjoyable to find this natural space in the city of Jamestown. I imagine it would be even more beautiful if the stream had more water running in it. I enjoyed the history marker showing the incredible number of people who used to use the swimming pool when it was operational.
I did not see any trash while on this section of trail.
Mosquitos were out and active today.
This is a trail where shorts would not be a problem. I did not see overgrown grass, briars, or poison ivy.
I saw mosses, fern, and a variety of tree species including mostly big oaks, hickory, hemlock, and cherry.

Pretty sure the right trail leads up to the road and the band shell. The trail to the left follows the creek bed
