Dogs are not welcome

For this site, it is best to come with someone who knows the area.  The first time we came, we came with people familiar with the area.  Bogs have dangerous spots.  There is a phone number to call about arranging a guided walk.

We walked approximately 3.2 miles total at this site.  My daughter came with me today and the walk was more enjoyable to be sharing her company.  We had a pretty day of sunshine with not too much breeze.

The trail is mostly single file.  There are logging trails that can be distracting and those are wider.

This is a natural surface. I would not recommend any bicycles, strollers, or wheelchairs.

There was a group of people with butterfly nets assembling when we first planned to arrive.  We chose to drive around and explore, giving them some space to have their event without our interruption.

I did not see trash on the trail.

The mosquitos were not a bother today today with use of bug spray and wearing a hat.

Parking: Along the road edge.

I saw and heard songbirds. I saw a squirrel and chipmunk. My daughter saw a spotted young fawn. There were mosses, ferns, buttercups, phlox, forget-me-nots, blackberry briars, violets, honeysuckle, fleabane, star flower, and a variety of tree species including beech, hemlock, cherry, shagbark hickory, oaks and maples.  On our first visit, we saw a variety of the plants that make this such a special place including one that ate flies but that was in November over ten years ago.
