Leashed dogs are welcome. I have Wesley vaccinated for Lyme disease and treated monthly for fleas and ticks since he gets into the weeds at the edges of the trails.

The trails I went on were well marked in that they have been used enough that it is easy to see where there are despite a few inches of snow.

I walked 1.75 miles with Wesley and my friend, Mary Ann, and her two dogs. Most of the trails were single file. We wore waterproof boots which was good for the creek crossings and the muddy trails. Much of the trail was more dry that I expected with the snows of the past week. I really enjoyed the trails. The creek was calm and the trees reflected in its surface. The water was not frozen so we could hear it burbling along. I appreciated my friend sharing this special place with me as it is one of her favorite places to walk the dogs. She has been visiting this park since she was a little girl and shared many lovely memories of her times here and the people she has met at this park. I have not been to the park since my family discovered it in 2006 when we were geocaching. I have always wanted to return as it seemed like a great place to visit but once again, time sped by. I especially love the wide creek with a pedestrian bridge that goes over it. There is a picnic shelter and picnic tables placed along the trails in the woods. I could hear the sound of the road traffic nearby.

The trails have a natural surface. I prefer long pants for my walks but I suppose people could wear shorts during the warmer months if they stayed on the main trails.

I would not think that attempting these trails with a stroller would be very enjoyable with the streams to cross and the stairs.

We passed one man in camouflaged clothing. It is the early days of hunting season and while I would not expect that hunting would be okay on a property that borders Jamestown Community College, Wesley and I were wearing our fluorescent orange.

I did not see any trash except when were at the picnic shelter.

The mosquitos respected the cooler temperatures and were not a problem.

I saw a gray squirrel, saw deer hoof prints in the snow, and heard a woodpecker. There were mosses, ferns, goldenrod, milkweed, and a variety of tree species including oaks, sycamores, pines, hemlocks, and maples.

I could not find this park on the internet but it is almost across the road from the Roger Tory Peterson visitor center and trails that I wrote up in an earlier page.

On the trail when we were at the border of the park and JCC was in view.

This sign is at the top of the stairs on the right side of the trail.
